BACK TO THE BEGINNING
Ottoman Classics began as an online tile supplier in 1992 selling the exquisite tiles of the Ottoman Empire known as Iznik Tiles. Due to the increase in our giftware range from Turkey and her neighbours Ottoman Classics became a retail showroom in 2000 and traded like a Grand Bazaar until 2009.
We have now gone back to being an online company only. Partly due to the fact that a stroll in the Grand Bazaar of today is akin to a massive $2 shop, the crafts and artifacts of Turkey have dwindled to nothing. Pottery and ceramics are the exception. The new look Iznik tiles just arrived in 2009 are the best ever produced by our supplier. Examining the many still standing tiles of the 16th century reveal a glassy quartz like tile that is luminescent and reflective. Now they are available in a superb replica. Not just glaze on a porcelain tile but a true beauty of a quartz look. They must be seen to be believed.
